FACULTY
Eighth Grade Homeroom; middle school language arts; school music
Judy King earned an AA degree at Concordia College, Bronxville, NY and a BS in Education with a major in English and a minor in Sacred Music from Concordia College (now University), Seward, NE. She subsequently earned an MA in Counseling from Manhattan College, Bronx, NY. During her teaching career, she also has completed 30 credits beyond her Masters degree. A former "Teacher of the Year" for the Lutheran Schools Association of the Atlantic District of the Lutheran Church in New York, Judy taught in New York City and then Providence, Rhode Island
before moving to California. In addition to her teaching career, Judy has pursued a career as a church musician and is an organist. She teaches because she gets great joy from helping students learn things. She teaches in Lutheran
schools because God has called her to this ministry and she can share the message of his love with her students.
Gary Zimmerman earned a BA Degree in Secondary Education—Mathematics at Concordia University Wisconsin.
He taught Mathematics and Religion courses at Lutheran High School of Hawaii for 5 years, from which he accepted
a call to teach at St. Paul’s. He became a teacher because he loves to see students succeed. He became a Lutheran teacher because he loves to teach students how to grasp hold of the good news of Christ’s perfect life, death, and resurrection for themselves through faith, and to prepare them to live a life of love and service to their neighbors.
Sixth Grade Homeroom; middle school-science and social studies
Taylor Gavin earned his BS degree from Concordia University, Irvine, and is currently finishing a Masters in Education at Concordia, Irvine. He taught for several years in a Lutheran School in Hawaii, and upon his return to the mainland, has joined the faculty of St. Paul's.
Fifth Grade - Jan Pinkerton graduated from Concordia University, Irvine a BA in psychology. She received her Lutheran Teaching Certificate and her California Teaching Credential soon after. She has spent most of her teaching years educating 5th graders. All four of her children graduated from St. Paul's. For her, the best part
of the day is when she shares Christ’s love with her students and teaches them to talk to and listen to God.
Fourth Grade –
Beth Clark graduated from Concordia University in Irvine, CA, with a BA degree and then went on to complete her fifth year for her Teacher Credential. She became a teacher because she wanted to help children discover and reach their dreams. She became a Lutheran school teacher to be able to teach the word of God and share His message of love to her students and their families.
Third Grade / Principal – Julie Simon graduated from Concordia University with a BA in
Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Child Development, and a concentration in Elementary Education. She started teaching at St. Paul’s Lutheran School after graduation, while continuing her education at Concordia, where she earned
her MA in Curriculum and Instruction.
Julie loves teaching in a Lutheran school for so many reasons. She loves getting
to know each student and their family and learning how to reach them as individuals. She finds it amazing to watch them grow intellectually, physically, and especially spiritually throughout the years.
Second Grade – Shannon Lewis, a graduate of St. Paul's, graduated from Vanguard University, Costa 
Mesa with a BA in Psychology and then she received her California
Teaching Credential also from Vanguard. She earned her MA in Counseling
Psychology at National University, Costa Mesa. Shannon says, “I now can
give to
children the love that I felt as I was a student (at St.
Paul's). It’s a wonderful feeling to share the love of God every
day
while educating future generations."
First Grade – Laura Siegert graduated from Concordia University in Irvine with a BA in Liberal Arts and
an MA in Education. She has taught children from Preschool to third grade and directs the handbell choirs. Laura enjoys helping children discover God’s love for them as well as how to use the gifts that He has given them.
Kindergarten –
Lori Langston graduated from Fullerton Junior College with an A.A. in speech. She received her BS in in Child Development from California State University, Fullerton. Lori turned to her former teachers at St. John’s Lutheran School for advice and they encouraged her to work at a Lutheran School. She says it was the best advice she has ever been given. She loves teaching at St. Paul’s, and is happy to go to school every day.
